Annual Toy & Food Appeal Another Great Success

Monday 11th December 2017

The Trust Board would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made a donation towards our Annual Christmas Toy and Food Appeal which was held during the Walsall FC Fun Day at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday and for making it another great success.

Trust Treasurer Margaret Vardy, Board Trustee Mikee Evans and volunteer Ian Hemmings were on hand prior to kick off against Scunthorpe United to collect toys and items of non-perishable food items which will be donated to the Walsall Manor Hospital Children's Ward and Kidz Klub and The Black Country Food Bank via The Thomas Project.

All the toys that were donated have been delivered to the club today (11 December) by Trust Secretary Steve Davies in preparation for the first team to deliver them to the children's ward at the Manor Hospital as part of their annual visit this coming Thursday with the remaining toys being donated to Walsall Kidz Klub who provide a safe and secure playing environment for local children to play and have fun.

Saddlers Mascot Swifty and Walsall FC Forward Amadou Bakayoko were also in attendance to lend a hand to the Trust

A donation bucket was also available for people to throw in any loose change they may have had to aid us to purchase more items for The Black Country Food Bank via the Thomas Project in Aldridge as well as items to donate to the Neo-Natal Ward at the Manor Hospital, and we are pleased to announce that a staggering 220 was raised on the day enabling us to purchase a fair amount for the Food Bank, again we would like to thank everyone who made a contribution to the collection, including some very generous Scunthorpe United supporters.

We will be making our delivery to the Thomas Project later this week and hopefully helping to make the festive period a little better for less fortunate families within the local community again this year.
