It was a wonderful atmosphere and a great result,
with some great football at Bescot last week.
Trouble is, it's the England Women's game I'm
talking about. It's fantastic just how far the
women's game has come in this country in the last
few years and the quality of the performance was
great to watch.
As for the Saddlers, of course, they managed to put
together back to back wins for the first time this
season thanks to some fantastic finishing against
Fleetwood and, partly, to another Oztumer wonder
strike at Wimbledon on Saturday. What hasn't
improved however is the toxic atmosphere both at the
ground and on social media, with the Manager, the
Secretary, the CEO and of course, the owner, all
being targets to a greater or lesser extent.
That atmosphere didn't seem to improve much
following the back to back wins and I'm beginning to
wonder if there will be no improvement until the
club manage to do some gesture that shows that their
ambitions match those of the fans. A contract offer
to Oztumer and an attempt to bring in some quality
in the window (the loanees might be a good place to
start, especially Wilson, Agyei and Ismail, assuming
Roberts is beyond our means).
Lastly, congratulations to Kory Roberts on making
League One 'team of the week' after Saturday's game.
I don't think it will be his last.
