Well another point closer
to safety was achieved at Gillingham on
Saturday but it didnít sound like the most
inspiring of performances but that point
could be useful come the end of the season.
Well done to all of our fellow Saddlers who
made the long journey to Kent.
A tough looking run of
fixtures looms starting with Blackburn on
Saturday. Our visitors will be backed by a
large following and anything we could glean
from this match would be a bonus. The run of
tough games could have been eased slightly
with the postponement of the Wigan game Ė
the third time this season we have lost a
Saturday fixture due to League One teams
performing better in The F.A Cup than we
Tickets for the trip to
Shrewsbury went on sale this week and the
prices are more than reasonable, so Iím
confident that we can take our usual large
following there, and have a good day out.
Some excellent news came
out of Bescot earlier this week with
goalkeeper Liam Roberts signing a new
contract that will keep him at the club
(transfer windows permitting) until 2020. I
was really impressed with him on his debut
against Millwall a couple of years ago and
he has come on leaps and bounds this season.
Not bad for a lad who we released initially
back in 2014.
Finally some sad news
reached us this week with the news that the
Walsall Advertiser is going to cease
publication after 40 years. We have always
had excellent coverage in this paper and it
will be sadly missed. I used to deliver it
to pay for Walsall games as a youngsters.
Hope all the staff, especially our brilliant
reporter Michael Beardmore will be okay.
